Timothy Kopec - Wine Director / Partner
As the Veritas wine director since the restaurant was opened in 1998, Timothy Kopec has shaped one of the world's great wine lists in large part drawn from the private cellars of restaurant owner Park B. Smith. Catering to New York's most discriminating wine-savvy clientele, he has gained national recognition for his vast knowledge and experience in the world of wine.

Mr. Kopec and sommeliers Rubén Sanz Ramiro and Alexandria Cubbage oversee the wine service at Veritas drawing on the 192,000-bottle inventory that includes an unprecedented selection of Bordeaux and Burgundy as well as the world's best collection of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Mr. Kopec travels the globe to refine and perfect the extraordinary list of over 3,200 selections. His ongoing efforts to raise the bar and enhance the restaurant's reputation as a world-class wine destination quickly earned Veritas the industry's top honor - the coveted Grand Award from the
Wine Spectator in 2000 - an award the restaurant has received every year since.
In 2005, both Veritas and Mr. Kopec were presented with the nationally renowned James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Wine Service. The prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards, now in its 15th year, are considered the highest honor culinary professionals can achieve distinguished by the fact that both nominees and winners are selected by their peers. The Outstanding Wine Service Award recognizes excellence through a well-presented wine list, knowledgeable staff, and efforts to educate customers about wine.
Mr. Kopec's extensive resume includes television appearances on CNBC's "Power Lunch," ABC's "Life of Luxury" and the "Martha Stewart Living" show. He has served on the exclusive wine tasting panel for
The New York Times, and is regularly quoted and featured in publications, including
Food & Wine, Wine & Spirit,

A Westchester, N.Y., native, Mr. Kopec is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.
From 1994-1999, Mr. Kopec played a key role in advancing the distinctive wine services at another New York restaurant-wine institution, Montrachet, winner of the Grand Award during each of those five years.
His expertise is often sought by restaurants including Nobu Restaurant in Las Vegas, private clubs, corporate institutions and private wine collectors around the world as well as Christie's, the internationally recognized auction house.
