Designer / Architect
Ed Rawlings is a licensed architect and designer of all sorts of things. A
graduate of Rensselaer with degrees in Art & Architectural History who has studied in
Rome and worked in New York City for the last 11 years, he has led several award winning
projects, including The Roosevelt Island School, and the winning entry for the New
York City Police Training Academy competition. He has recently opened his own firm, Rawlings
architects.
Rawlings architects is a practice committed to quality design at all
scales, from high-rise construction to home furnishings. Maintaining a variety of project
types in the office including apartment renovations, free-standing homes, restaurants,
hair salons, public and higher education projects, healthcare work, airport projects, and
multi-use high-rise buildings, allows for an approach that is both fresh and experienced.
A passion for design, an obsession with details, and a keen interest in the way things are
built is brought to each undertaking. Staff architects Usman Haque, Satoko Hoshino and
Thomas Kronreif who have all collaborated with Ed Rawlings for a number of years, enable
the practice to offer a spectrum of services from web design through industrial and
furnishing design, in addition to full architectural services.
Previous food service experience includes: INdiGo Restaurant, Siena Restaurant,
Zucca Restaurant, Massachusetts General Hospital Cafeteria, Roosevelt Island School
Cafeteria, PS 99 Annex Cafeteria.
